There is a huge unmet demand for degree-level paramedic science education and training. The University of Greenwich, which has been running a Paramedic Science Foundation degree for the past five years, has had 330 applications for 21 places on its programme starting in September.

The university's new BSc in Paramedic Science has had 230 applications for 15 places on the second year of its programme, which starts in the autumn (2011) which works out at more than 15 people competing for every available place.

‘There has been phenomenal demand for both degrees,’ Dave Kerr, Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Science and programme leader for the university's new Paramedic Science BSc, said. He added:

‘It is an extremely popular career choice. We could fill the courses many times over. Greenwich is attractive because the university has a reputation for being very good. We pride ourselves on the quality of our paramedic teaching and the high levels of support that we give to our students.’
