What are paramedics tweeting about?

Paramedic Practice @Para_Practice

Via Guardian politics live, Theresa May is facing more criticism for #NHS struggles despite NHS England dismissing talk of ‘crisis’ and claiming they are better prepared for #winter than ever: ‘in a way that we've never prepared before’

@Kev1211

Not in crisis?? Maybe not at the local Pvt hospital

@tonyj154

The question is why have more ambo staff left in the last 5 years more than any other period in the NHS history… I'm one of them!

They recruit uni bods that are taking years to get qualified.. then they leave!

@scott_goudie

Well if you bury your head in the sand and ignore it it'll go away right? #dillusional [sic] #SaveOurNHS

Sam Grimson @wmassamgrimson

Last night was probably one of the worst I have experienced for inappropriate use of the Ambulance service.

15 patients attended.

1 taken to Maternity unit.

The rest either treated on scene or just wanted a “check up” or weren't there when we arrived or were hoax calls!

Rob Etall-Paramedic @robetall

It's refreshing in these incredible times in the #NHS the unwavering support that the public bestow onto us

It's truly inspiring to see/experience The pressures are obvious + issues complex, but #NHSWorkers are working very hard to keep u all safe. Thank you! #WinterPressures

Kirsty Smith @kirsty_e_smith1

Practising paediatric and adult ALS scenarios in @NWAmbulance mandatory training to make sure we're slick when on the real thing #pitstopresuscitation

Ben Hooper @Benrhooper

I am not a huge fan of ‘live tweeting’ but if you are, be careful of what you tweet! It might be helpful using this chart found in the @Para_Practice Journal of Paramedic Practice #tweetappropriately #LiveTweeting

I love the fact that the UK is blessed with regulation when it comes to Paramedic education and training—but does it has [sic] to be so subjective!? There needs to be improved consistency, those organisations who have undergone any type of application/visit/audit will know the term “…it depends who you get on the day!” But is this right?

For the last 5 years I got the vaccine and for the last 3 years got sick with flu twice and other viral infections. When employers work their staff to exhaustion.

Jake Simon Marriott

I've had the flu jab every year since I can remember, and never been ill with it, and never had flu… Suppose it reacts differently with others.

Predicting the future for the #NHS and its relationship with politics is a hot topic at the moment, but here's a very useful overview from Laura Kuennessberg.

We want to hear your opinions too, especially those specific to #paramedic practice.

Get rid of 111 archaic protocols where they dispatch with no medical knowledge and stop GPs being risk adverse [sic] and sending everyone to A&E, and get everyone reading of the same triage tools for the likes of Sepsis etc. the number of patients GPs, Nurses send in from community with Sepsis that aren't even triggering on the Sepsis guidelines… OH and Ambulances aren't taxis for these people either.
