Emergency medical services take on the challenges of 2012

The role of the emergency services has come under particular scrutiny over the past year as the UK hosts a number of important events, including the Diamond Jubilee, as well as the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. These high profile events have thrust the emergency services into the public eye, and have opened up discussions around the importance of interoperability within the blue light services.For the ambulance service, these events have been instrumental in bringing together members from many of the ambulance trusts in order to provide the level of support that huge events such as these require. As well as providing support for these events, it has also been critical that ambulances and paramedics continue to provide the same level of emergency medical response as they usually do to the general public.

The Emergency Services Show, which will take place at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, between the 21 and 22 November this year, is a unique event and the ideal place to explore new ideas and initiatives to help deliver effective emergency healthcare throughout the UK, as well as networking with like-minded professionals to discuss collaboration and partnerships. Every year paramedics and ambulance technicians from NHS trusts, foundation trusts and independent ambulance services with a role in operations, procurement, training and recruitment attend. There will be a number of new product launches and demonstrations taking place throughout the two days of the show including a range of CPD accredited demonstrations from the College of Paramedics. Suppliers such as Physio Control, Falck, Ferno UK, SP Services, Cardiac Science, BOC Healthcare and Oxylitre will be among over 300 exhibitors on hand to demonstrate their latest innovations and developments and to talk about cost saving initiatives. The show’s Emergency Response Zone will once again feature exhibitors from ambulance, fire and rescue, police, government and voluntary organisations from around the UK. This area demonstrates to visitors the capabilities of partnering agencies and the voluntary sector.
