Book Review

01 January 2014
Volume 6 · Issue 1

In keeping with seasonal tradition, what better way to start the New Year than with a spot of reflection? Add a little professional development and decision-making to the mix and unwanted Christmas book tokens may just have become useful! Not that there are a shortage of texts on the subjects. Far from it. But those which manage to integrate these themes into a coherent read are somewhat thinner on the ground. This may well achieve just that.

A table comprising the most notable published frameworks is concise and beneficial, not just for those considering reflective practice for the first time but also for more experienced practitioners looking to develop their reflexivity. But this text offers far more than simply reviewing existing reflective models (a common approach adopted by other publications) and focuses not simply on the process involved. It adopts a more holistic consideration of the subject which helps to develop a genuine understanding of its value in modern health care delivery.
