What are paramedics tweeting about?

Paramedic Practice @Para_Practice

The government is proposing to teach all children in England first aid—including #CPR and life-saving skills. This is positive news for #paramedics—bystander intervention can improve clinical outcomes for certain conditions.

@BritishParamed1

Who are they going to get in to teach it, or are the teachers going to be doing it?

@scott_goudie

This is the same government that talked until an identical bill ran out of time to be heard in the commons a little while back? Now it's their idea eh?

Jules Lockett @juleslockett06

okay I'm supporting the amazing @Kharrison50Katy @Ldn_Ambulance supporting #YouthAmbassadors & talking about all things #MentalHealth

Vinny Romano @NWAmb_Vinny

Spent the day completing a contact shift with one of my SPTLs. Attended an RTC and went through some airway techniques. #leadership

Joel Phillips @joelparamedic

Earlier this year, Bristol Live reported on shocking figures showing 99.7 per cent of assaults on ambulance staff in the South West did not result in prison for the offender. That's one person out of 300.

Ryan Douglas @ryandouglas412

Yes, you may use your phone, it does not interfere with our onboard equipment. We do, however, require seatbelts for takeoff, accept hand luggage only, have inflight oxygen available and can, at busy times like tonight, be subject to minor delays #FlySAS

Karl Williams @WmasKarlW

The more people we can get sharing this the better. It's important to know that any CPR is better than no CPR! We will never tell you off for doing it! I'm willing to answer and questions around this subject tonight so if you have questions please get in touch #LearnCPR.

Malcolm (Woollard) and I started in the East Sussex Ambulance Service on the same day, Monday 10th January 1983. We undertook our basic training together, at Bishops Waltham. Words fail me I'm shocked, he did more than any other person I know, a pioneering legend. RIP Malcolm

What are paramedics saying on Facebook?

Journal of Paramedic Practice

Study finds that brain damage is more likely in #OHCA when patients are treated with adrenaline. Excellent research using pre-hospital medicine and #paramedic contributors.

Kevin Smith

Long way to go yet but interestesting read.

Danielle Ward-Taylor

I actually researched this on my last reflection. Interesting read.

Holly Clarke

If I remember rightly the case study was done in Wales and a man successfully sued the ambulance service for using a placebo instead of adrenaline when his wife was in cardiac arrest. Interesting to see if the decisions would be reversed now the findings have come to light.

Mharie Thornton Robb

I've been waiting for this to be published, will check out the paper later.

Stephen Kemmy

Basically its not good for long term outcome, which makes sense with the OHCA we get here, so the question is now the results are in what is going to happen next? Will Epi be removed from the ACLS Protocols?

I doubt it, due to the fact of increased ROSC with Epi but it should be the end outcome that is the big picture. Working an arrest and transporting a patient that you know is an Epi induced Rosc with a poor outcome is not the way forward Ithink anyway!

Philip Evans

May be epi won't be removed but would limiting the use be beneficial, for example may be only aloud to use 6.
