Customer driven solutions, fit for the future

As the communications requirements of the emergency care sector evolve, we continue our commitment to our customers by investing heavily in new ways to support paramedics in the field, through the use of resilient data, video and voice solutions.

With our continuous customer interactions and investment in R&D, we strive to make our solutions ever more effective and user friendly. Our solutions are carefully tailored to the needs of teams working within high risk, high-pressure ‘hot zone’ environments, enabling them to deploy and use our resilient communications technologies confidently and effectively.

We have invested in a range of market leading communications solutions that have been developed with specific emergency responder requirements in mind, including:

‘RapidNet LTE’—our new private LTE communications network can provide secure and reliable data video and voice (i.e. VoIP and VoLTE) communications via laptops, smartphones and other mobile devices at an incident when terrestrial 3G/4G networks are unavailable.

‘Reflex’—our innovative, lightweight vehicle mounted satellite communications (‘pod’) solution designed with rapid response in mind. Reflex enables the user to manage critical situations more effectively by being able to access and share information in real time when first at the scene.

New advancements have been made to our Digital Dashboard Management Interface (DDMI) with emergency responders in mind. DDMI, our easy to use operating interface, now includes the integration of physiological monitoring applications, so that paramedics can monitor the health of their teams as well as having the capability monitor patient vital signs at incidents.

‘We are truly proud of the difference our solutions are making in emergency response and continue to push the boundaries of our technology for the benefit of our extraordinary customers'—Nicola Savage, sales and marketing director, Excelerate Technology Ltd.

Proven partnerships across the emergency services

As the satellite communications provider of choice for the emergency services, Excelerate has a strong track record in the delivery of resilient incident management solutions ranging from standalone rapidly deployable solutions to designing and integrating large-scale command and control installations.

All NHS ambulance services in England, Scotland and Wales are long-standing and valued customers, as well as the majority of the UK fire and rescue services and a growing number of police forces.

The UK ambulance service's national Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) programme provides one of the best examples of how an integrated solutions approach to advanced command communications has changed the way emergency incidents are managed.

The HART Forward Command Vehicles' integrated data, video and voice solutions were prototyped, developed and tested for over a year by Excelerate in collaboration with the Department of Health and the ambulance service, to ensure the technologies used matched exact requirements.

After the successful completion of a pilot scheme with the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, Excelerate rolled out their technology nationally on all HART mobile command vehicles throughout the UK.

Through our commitment to develop innovative, resilient and reliable solutions, enhancing service delivery within the emergency services, it is our belief that the HART vehicles are now the most comprehensively equipped vehicles in the world.

‘Excelerate's solutions mean we can provide our teams with enhanced communications across a diverse geographical area, ranging from rural to city environments. The flexibility of the solutions, backed up by Excelerate's enhanced support ensures that we always have a resilient infrastructure’—Chris Sims, head of operations (resilience), Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Our enhanced resilience satellite network—dedicated to emergency response

We offer an enhanced resilience satellite network, our KU service, which is a totally resilient, managed satellite broadband service to support the mission critical communications of the emergency services.

We provide the only enhanced resilient satellite network in the UK, which operates over two satellites with automatic failover and two UK interconnecting teleports and an additional one based outside of the UK. Our unique enhanced resilience satellite network is a ground breaking, fully managed service that is the first to be accredited with the ISO: 27001 certification, an internationally recognised standard for security compliance.

Our resilient satellite network is managed in real time via our virtual network operations centre and ensures that there cannot be one single point of failure in the connection to broadband, providing rapidly deployable communications, data access and a live video infrastructure where none exists or has been compromised and requires additional resilience. Situations where such extra resilience might be required include in areas of flooding and fast flowing water, or in terrorist attacks such as the 7/7 bombings in London, where networks overloaded by public usage collapsed.

We continue to invest in our satellite service provision, offering our customers a choice of satellite services to meet their specific needs. This includes KA, a complementary solution to our KU service.

Incident ground communications solutions

Alongside our satellite communications services sits a range of incident ground solutions that can be quickly deployed for use without reliance on normal terrestrial networks.

From body worn video and rapid deploy cameras, to wireless mesh, private GSM and scalable communication networks, our solutions provide responders with the connectivity they need to be able to share critical video in real time and enable voice and data applications. The result being that all involved in an incident have access to a common operational picture, regardless of whether it's a single or multi agency response.

DDMI—easy to use, configurable operating interface, now with physiological monitoring

Complete with physiological monitoring, our easy to use, ‘Digital Dashboard Management Interface’ (DDMI) combines all systems and solutions into one seamless interface for operational personnel to control, monitor and analyse every aspect of an incident from one place.

DDMI is a highly innovative solution that automates many functions meaning complicated technologies and actions are made simple, reducing the need for human intervention and allowing users to focus on their primary duty as emergency responders.

Fully scalable and future proof, DDMI can be enhanced to incorporate future applications and technology. This includes the integration of systems and applications provided by different vendors and partners.

For use in the field, DDMI can be integrated into smartphones and tablet computers, enabling easy access to key data and video streams by attending personnel, to support effective incident management.
